Can you substitute extra virgin olive oil for vegetable oil in a recipe?

Can you substitute extra virgin olive oil for vegetable oil in a recipe...I am making a recipe of potato salad that uses e.v.o.o. and I don't have it, can I just use vegetable oil?Can you substitute extra virgin olive oil for vegetable oil in a recipe?
i would not do it cause there is a difference between the 2, if you google it you can find the true answer good luckCan you substitute extra virgin olive oil for vegetable oil in a recipe?
you can substitute veg oil for evo in most cases but not the other way around - EVER. evo has a distict taste so when a recipie doesn't call for it you shouldn't use it unless you want it to taste weird. if you sub veg oil for evo you will just get a less robust taste. i don't really recomend it, because again, evo has a distinct flavor and there's a reason it's called for. good luck!
No real problems. Olive oil just gives a better flavor to the potato salad. Personally I think it is worth your while to go buy a bottle of e.v.o.o. It is more heart healthy and can be used in place of veggie oil most of the time (exceptions: high temp. cooking, oriental foods, sweets, and baked goods).
vegetable oil has a lighter flavor than evoo, so you will be fine in this case. it's more a problem when you substitute the other way, like using evoo instead of veg oil in a cake, for example. the evoo is just too heavy.
We use olive oil for everything. It's no problem for us because we don't do anymore deep frying. The few tsp. we put in the bottom of the wok before toss frying works OK because we don't use the highest heat. (We don't want to damage our cookware with high heat)
that is a good idea. It helps in keeping the tissues fresh and tight and also helps in revitalizing the nerve tissues.

you should use it in low quantities so the food will also be delicious and nourishing'
olive oil is sweeter. google it. there is a difference between oils. i wouldnt put olive oil in something that didnt call for it.
yes, although the olive oil would taste alot better and it better for your health, but oil is oil and you can almost always replace the type with another.
Sure........just start a little easy and taste it........as you go. Like any other cook................if ya want them coming back a little extra flavor..........salt and sugar...........selling the goods...might kill ya.......but it sure taste's great:) Have fun big guy...........
