Nope - Sorry.
the taste will be awful anyway.....

smoking point is way to low...use lard or something neutral flavored with a high smoking point.

Can I use Olive oil instead of Vegetable oil in my Chilli recipie?

I wonder,

And what spices are in a chilli seasoning mix?Can I use Olive oil instead of Vegetable oil in my Chilli recipie?
Yes you can even use bacon grease if you have any, though it'll be worse for your arteries than using olive/canola oil would.

If you want to go nineteenth-century style on the cooking fat for your homemade chili, you can use lard.

A skillet is a pan with low, straight sides and yes, you most definitely CAN use a pot for chili making. In fact using a pot is the recommended method for making chili.

The spices used in the mix vary from brand to brand but they generally use some type of dried chile, salt, pepper and a couple other spices. Use several different brands to find a flavor you like or use actual powdered chiles, like powdered anchos, along with other spices you like for the flavor. Can I use Olive oil instead of Vegetable oil in my Chilli recipie?
You're welcome. Although I said I've had three years experience making chili, that only counts the time I;'e been living by myself since my mom died. befpre she died, Mom used to help me make the chili by doing all the prep work, including cutting the veggies up. Report Abuse

Yes you can use sunflower oil instead of olive oil.

Chilli flakes, red wine, salt and pepper, red kidney beans, onion, garlic, tinned tomatoes and tomato puree.

a skillet is a saute pan but you can use an ordinary saucepan with no problem
Of course you can use olive oil. (or any oil, as long as it is 'vegetable', such as corn oil, or sunflower oil, or peanut oil)
Grapeseed oil has the least taste of all oils I've ever tried, and is very heart-friendly if those are concerns.
Sure! I season my chili with chili powder, garlic, cayenne pepper, black pepper, comino (cumin), and some guinness.
Sunflower oil is fine. Olive oil will give it a sweet taste - some people prefer it.
Yes u can use olive oil but good quality is way more expensive then other oils.

Can you substitute olive oil for vegetable oil when baking?

I was wondering if you could bake with olive oil instead of vegetable oil. Since it's thicker, will it make the cookies, cake, etc. taste different? Can you substitute olive oil for vegetable oil when baking?
Substituting olive oil for butter in baked goods allows a smaller quantity to be used; in most cases up to 25% less fat is used when baking with olive oil. Light olive oil is ideal for baked goods because of its subtle flavor. Many people do not associate olive oil with baking, but it is one of the best oils that can be used for this purpose. Olive oil has been a favorite of bread bakers for centuries, because it results in bread with excellent flavor and texture. In Mediterranean countries, olive oil is used not only in bread making, but in other types of baked goods as well, including sweet items. In the United States, olive oil is used less often for baking, except in bread making. Many consumers in the U.S. are worried about baked items having a strong olive taste, however when light olive oil is used, it is difficult to detect an olive flavor in baked goods. Light olive oil is perfect for baking cakes, sweetly flavored breads, or rolls.

Using olive oil instead of butter in baking allows some of the fat required for a recipe to be eliminated. About 25% less olive oil is required for most baked items. The use of olive oil instead of butter also eliminates much of the saturated fat and cholesterol contained in many dessert cakes and rolls, making them healthier and more nutritious. The natural antioxidants (such as vitamin E) in olive oil help to keep baked items fresher for a longer period compared to items baked with butter.

Use the chart below to convert the quantity of butter

called for in a recipe to the required quantity of olive oil.

If you use olive oil it will overpower the taste of your baked goods. Vegetable oil is neutral in flavor whereas olive oil is not and is usually strongly flavored. Don't use olive oil in baking unless you want it to taste of olives.
The taste will be a little different but not so much so to take away the goodness of the cookies, go for it!
sure i've done it many times
The taste would be too different. For example, if you were to take a piece of bread and dip into each oil, you can tase the difference. I wouldn't recommend substituting.
i think it would taste very different, a lot more bold taste than you would want in baked goods.
Olive oil has a rather strong flavor compared to the ';crisco'; type vegetable oils but it is still vegetable oil. It will work but you might not like the added flavor, especially in cakes and cookies.

B
Unless its a light olive oil, the flavor is way too strong for cookies, its usually better for meat and vegetables.
When I used it for baking biscuits they came out very hard instead of soft, and with an odd flavor. It was a fairly light olive oil.

I've never tried it for cookies.
I have used it before and it tastes fine to me... but you can try it yourself on a small batch to see if you want to use it in the future. If you're greasing the pan with it, it tastes better to use butter.

Definitely use the olive oil for the pasta dish. Unless you are deep frying or using it in a baking recipe always use olive oil.

You can fry and saute with olive oil also.

There are two grades of olive oil. Light and extra virgin. The difference is taste, color and smoking point. Extra virgin is best used in salad dressings, pasta and vegetable topping, sauteing and any recipe that doesn't require high temperature cooking. You can fry with light olive oil. Leave the recipe to it's original ingredients when baking and deep frying.

You'll find more flavor and less cholesterol when using olive oil in your cooking. Is it alright if a recipe calls for vegetable oil but I use olive oil instead? Will there be a difference?
you can use olive oil, however it has a stronger flavor and is a bit heavier. if it's for baking, i generally use veg or corn oil...however for cooking I tend to use olive oil.
you can use olive oil wherever you use vegetable oil however, extra virgin olive oil is a heavier oil and should be used as a salad dressing and as a topping to accent a dish, not really for cooking. regular olive oil is for cooking and I use it almost daily instead of vegetable oil.
Yes, there will be, so you should always go with the recommended oil in a recipe. Olive oil is heavier and more flavorful. Vegetable oil is lighter and more mellow in flavor, and better suited to use in light salad dressings, or Asian stir-fries.
there is also the smoke index. vegetable oil is more used as a frying base. olive oil is more used for flavoring.
a pasta dish should be ok, however know that olive oil burns quicker than vegetable oil and has a nutty flavor that veg or canola oil doesnt offer. Some oils are for flavor others are not.
It depends on what you use it for. Don't put it in a cake, but if you are say, frying chicken, it won't really make a difference.
If you like the flavor of olive oil, then by all means use it. It will change the flavor slightly, but it will probably improve the flavor of a pasta dish over vegetable oil.
It will be healthier and probably taste better.
If you absolutely must use the olive oil vs. the vegetable oil, then it will make a difference, but not a major one. For stir-frys, and the like it will be ok, but for desserts like cake and cookies, try not to use it. Another thing- if you ever need to make a fruit compote, or fruit sauce, try adding a tablespoon of vinegar. It brings out the sweet flavor, just like salt. Good luck and happy cooking!
YES THERE IS A DIFFERENCE-----USE VEG. OIL

Do you add vegetable oil to canned soup while heating it on the stove?

Last time I heated canned soup (yes, I am that lazy) it tasted a little burnt. Even when I turned the heat on low, it still had a peculiar taste. Should I add a little bit- say, a tablespoon of vegetable oil to the chicken noodle soup I'm making?Do you add vegetable oil to canned soup while heating it on the stove?
be sure you are stirring it as it heats, or it will burn on the bottom. If it's burning on the bottom and you stir it afterward, all that stuff will get into your soup. I wouldn't add oil to it, I don't see what good that would do. Try heating it in the microwave if your still having problems. That's how I always do it.Do you add vegetable oil to canned soup while heating it on the stove?
that might just be the brand of soup your buying (their recipe). you normally add some water to canned soup, if you like a lighter flavor. i put a little butter in mine too.
No. It won't help the taste.
Why would you add oil? What would that do for it?

Do NOT add oil it will just sit on the surface.
no, just heat it up slowly instead of quickly and it will taste fine
