Im cooking Blueberry Muffins, is Olive oil the same as vegetable oil?

Ok so I'm making Blueberry Muffins. Im not sure where my vegetable oil is so is olive oil the same thing? Cause I know where that is.

NO on the olive oil. It has a distinct flavor and would ruin blueberry muffins.





You need to use a vegetable oil. Saffola oil would be fine -- it is often used in cooking at high temperatures because it does not burn (like for frying chicken), but it would work in you muffin recipe.

You CAN make them with olive oil; just keep in mind that the more pronounced ';olivey'; flavour of the oil, the more you run the risk that this will be detected in the finished product.





I'm sure whatever you use, the flavours of vanilla (usually in blueberry muffins) as well as the blueberries themselves will cover the olive flavour.

If it is virgin olive oil, it will be a bit funky tasting!!! If it is a cheap regular olive oil, the taste won't be as awful but will still be off. Stick with vegetable oil and save the olive oil for pastas and salads!!
Olive oil is A vegetable oil, but use only the very light one. You can also use melted butter or margarine in these if you wish. Just cool it so it isn't really hot when you pour it in the muffin mix.
No, you want to use a neutral oil, meaning something that does not have a flavor. Vegetable, Canola and I think Saffola Oil are neutral so they do not add any different flavor to what you are baking.
