Oil in general contains fat. What to be concious with is the amount of LDL or the low density lipoprotein or in laymans term is the bad cholesterol present in the foods or ingredients you prepare. I'm an undergraduate student and now i'm dealing with lowering cholesterol level using peanut oil. Peanut oil has a delicate an oriental taste and aroma. I suggest that if you want to cook pasta salad, try use peanut oil for the dressing. This must be new, but i guarantee you that it taste like the usual salad and not to mention that it will lower your bad cholesterol level.
I'm looking forward that you will try this!I'm cooking pasta salad, and it calls for vegetable oil. Is there any less fat substitute I can use instead?
you dont need any oil at all , just make sure you keep your eye on the pasta as it cooks then add some of the miracle whip ( after you strain the pasta ) there's a lot of oil in mayo you know ! or butter whatever the recipe is using !
isn't it odd we address the recipe's as a living (person ) assistant ??? we must be nut's _there i go again ! this is really corney -
never mind
canola. olive oil has great flavor and other healthful properties and that's great in pasta salads.
Cannola oil or safflower oil is about as light as you can get.
you can actually use low cal itilian dressing its has very lite oil and it makes it taste pretty good
Vegetable oil was invented as a low fat substitute.
olive oil would be perfect, and you can find light olive oil at the store ... and olive oil is very healthy for you
Does it have to be oil? Could you use nonfat yogurt or sour cream instead? Or buy a good fat-free dressing?
